Sacem Conversations: 2 roundtables to discuss the challenges facing the cultural and creative industries from an African perspective

In the framework of the Africa2020 season that will take place across all French territory, including Overseas France, Sacem initiated in partnership with Music in Africa, the Sacem Conversations that will be held next Tuesday, on March 30th. The sessions will be broadcast live on Facebook.
Originally planned for September 2020, then rescheduled for March 2021 due to COVID-19 postponing Africa2020, Sacem Conversations are organised within the scope of the September Summit. This summit emphasises intellectual production, as well as the transcendence of ideas through questioning the state of modern societies, which, resonate with France and, beyond Africa, with the rest of the world.
Through a series of meetings and conversations, the September Summit will give experts as well as the audience a chance to discuss five themes developed during the Africa2020 season, amongst which the “Economy and Fabulation”, a topic covered by the two roundtables hosted by Sacem Conversations.
These two roundtables bringing together artists and professionals from the sector, will focus on how the value of digital content is shared and will be devoted to economic emancipation and the redistribution of resources.
Since its creation, Sacem includes amongst its members, authors, composers and publishers from all around the world, and is dedicated to defending their interests, across all repertoires.
The African continent contributes to the vitality and dynamism of the music ecosystem although its worldwide influence. Sacem is proud to represent the works of iconic creators of the African repertoire, and to share its expertise in authors’ rights management, particularly on the digital end.
