Caroline Champarnaud to lead Sacem's combined international service
As it ramps up its international activities, Sacem has appointed Caroline Champarnaud to head its new international department.
Created from the merger of the international collections department with the international development unit, this new department will oversee all of Sacem's international activities, with a view to maximizing revenue for its members from all over the world, as well as its partners. The reorganisation follows the departure of Jean-Claude Chamoux, who had been director of international collections.
Caroline Champarnaud has been director of international development at Sacem since 2016. In this capacity, she has been managing Sacem's relations with foreign authors' societies, in particular with those who have entrusted Sacem with an online rights management mandate (Socan in Canada, and Komca in Korea). She actively participates in several international working groups. Previously, she headed the phonographic and digital rights department, where she negotiated the first mandates with international publishers and licenses with key digital players in France and around the world. She is also responsible for Sacem’s growing role as a consultant to partners in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.
Cécile Rap-Veber, CEO of Sacem:
"Since her arrival at Sacem, Caroline has put all of her dynamism and drive into the development of international partnerships, at my side. International affairs have always been a priority for Sacem, whose members come from 174 different nationalities. With Caroline we have developed constructive collaborations on all continents, from Europe to Asia, and including Africa and America. The transformation of the music ecosystem linked to the acceleration of digital technology means that we must increasingly pool our resources and services to get a better return on value for creators and publishers throughout the world.
This new, more cross-functional organisation will be a considerable asset. I know I can count on the expertise of Caroline and her entire team to support this strategy, and I wish them every success in the projects they take charge of."
