Sacem launches its first NFT campaign: a new experience to enter the world of music creation
Sacem is pleased to announce the launch of its first NFT drop, as part of its annual ceremony "Les Grands Prix Sacem,” becoming the first authors’ society in the world to launch its own NFTs.
This launch marks a new stage in Sacem's transformation into a Sacem 3.0 to better embody a collective management model focused on creating value for its members, and to respond to the acceleration of the technological changes affecting the music world.
Hundreds of free NFTs for music lovers and creative enthusiasts
This collection is divided into 4 categories Classic, Bronze, Silver, Gold.
Sacem is making a series of digital tokens available to the public free of charge, giving access to different benefit levels: concert tickets, one-year subscriptions to an online music service, access to the Grands Prix Sacem ceremony — and even a meeting with some of the prizewinners during the Grands Prix evening on December 13.
These NFTs will be available via a dedicated platform from Wednesday, October 12: nft.sacem.fr.
A Sacem Discord server will be launched at the same time to provide all the information about this drop and allow the community of Sacem NFT holders to interact with each other.
With this drop, Sacem wishes to offer a privileged experience for music lovers who are fond of these new digital tools while at the same time allowing its members to be closer to their fans.
This experiment is a unique opportunity for Sacem to create a rich experience for its communities and demonstrate its ambitions for the future of creation.
This operation highlights what will be at the heart of Web3: the community. This new web will profoundly change the relationship between content creators and their audiences and lead to new uses and modes of consumption.
In this new world, Sacem wants to embrace and experiment with these emerging technologies to take stock of their potential in terms of diversification of revenue sources and value creation for members.
While a new world is taking shape, it is Sacem's duty to explore it and to give itself the means to guide its members, enlighten them and to create the conditions for them to be legally protected and fairly remunerated.
For this initiative, Sacem chose the technology provided by Polygon, a public blockchain provider that emphasises low energy consumption. Sacem's efforts to embrace new music tech should be accompanied by new revenues for its members and better services, while at the same time allowing it to be more virtuous in terms of energy consumption.
Cécile Rap-Veber, CEO of Sacem, said: « One of our priorities at Sacem is to put innovation in the service of our members and to build offerings and partnerships that generate new sources of revenue for them. This first NFT drop, in connection with the next Sacem Grand Prix ceremony, is a first step in this web3 universe — where Sacem wants to uphold its conception of copyright and collective management while reinforcing the link between creators and the public.
Every year, the Grands Prix ceremony celebrate our talented artists, who take part in the dynamism of creation in France and around the world, in categories ranging from rap, to electronic music, to film scores.
This 2022 edition seemed like a great opportunity to launch this NFT series, as it embodies a new link to fan communities while confirming our duty to keep an eye on evolutions could bring about a more virtuous value chain for creation."
Serge Perathoner, Chairman of the Board of Directors: "Initially reserved for connoisseurs, NFTs are gradually spreading to a wider public, particularly to fan communities, by associating social ties and the dimension of rarity. These values are shared by our Grands Prix, which honour our authors, composers and publishers who are members of Sacem and on which we wish to put a particular spotlight this year, after a period of health crisis which kept us apart for too long.
This initiative around NFTs, along with other new technological efforts on the way, reflect the positioning of Sacem and its Board of Directors to always adapt Sacem and the collective management model to the changes in our ecosystem, for the benefit of our members and the public."
